MEGA Adds IT Planning Capabilities to Enterprise Architecture Solution
Roadmapping for IT infrastructure supports evolving business needs
HOBART, Tasmania., February 9, 2010 - Prologic, one of Tasmania's best known IT Services providers today announces the addition of new capabilities to the Enterprise Architecture solution provided by its international business partner MEGA. MEGA, a recognised leader in enterprise architecture (EA), has introduced a new set of powerful features in MEGA IT Planning to help enterprises successfully align IT plans with business strategy, and manage IT transformations faster and more efficiently.
MEGA is the first company to fully integrate IT planning with EA tools, a necessary combination to provide all capabilities required to quickly understand how potential changes to IT resources will affect business operations. The software is part of the MEGA Suite, a proven EA solution for nearly 20 years.
With MEGA IT Planning, organisations can control the evolution of IT systems, improve asset allocation, and save money. Master plans of IT systems provided by MEGA IT Planning show time-dependent views of services, applications, and IT asset portfolio management, enabling accurate forecasting of IT changes.
"The combination of business' increasing reliance on IT and the volatility of the marketplace have put more pressure on IT to plan quickly, accurately, and thoroughly. IT must now compare plans to alternatives, prepare them with contingencies, and review them on a monthly or quarterly - not yearly - basis," wrote Sharyn Leaver in the Forrester Research report, "Tools for IT Planning" in March, 2009.
MEGA IT Planning helps companies manage IT infrastructure in the context of rapid business changes. Businesses can plan and control IT transitions much faster, and align IT systems to meet evolving needs.
MEGA IT Planning is a roadmapping tool that helps enterprises plan, model, and visualise technology resources and make well-informed decisions about IT asset acquisition, management, and retirement.
The software provides
- A central repository for shared data
- Capability maps linking IT resources with critical business processes
- Gap analysis tools to create paths between current and future architectures
- Modeling and analysis tools to create a variety of master plans and transformation scenarios
- A set of rich, automated reports for decision-makers
"The industry's previous lack of IT planning tools integrated with EA meant that it took much too long to modify technology infrastructures to meet fast-paced business opportunities," explained Lucio de Risi, CEO, MEGA. "However, MEGA IT Planning bridges the gap between the planning and roadmapping activities of the EA process and IT portfolio management."
With MEGA IT Planning, EA stakeholders can understand and measure the impact of business or IT changes on the IT ecosystem. It helps IT strategists and planners, business analysts, solution architects, project managers, and decision makers who must manage business activities and the IT systems that support them.
The software now includes a set of predefined, yet flexible, master plans and provides planning synchronisation, time-based views of architecture deployment compliance, financial perspectives within analysis, integration of city planning concepts, and new analysis reports with Gantt diagrams.
MEGA IT Planning is available immediately.

MEGA in Leaders Quadrant in Enterprise Architecture Tools Analysis
Hobart, Tasmania., December 16, 2009 - MEGA, the international business partner of Tasmania's Prologic Pty Ltd, and an industry leader in enterprise architecture (EA) and business process analysis (BPA), is positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of Gartner, Inc.'s November 2009 "Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools".
The report contains an analysis of 10 software vendors that offer EA tools meeting specific minimum requirements for EA capabilities. Vendors are evaluated on their ability to execute and completeness of vision.
Vendors are positioned in the report in one of four categories: leaders, visionaries, niche players, and challengers.
MEGA named a leader
"We believe MEGA's position in the Leaders Quadrant reflects the value our solution provides to companies that are seeking a cost-effective, efficient way to model, transform and control business processes, resources, assets, and risks." noted Lucio de Risi, CEO of MEGA. "We have worked with hundreds of organizations worldwide, helping them understand how to align business priorities with IT, measure the value of EA, and use EA to improve business."
Proven record of innovation
The MEGA Suite has been the foundation for better business performance at large enterprises worldwide for nearly 20 years. Improved productivity, higher market share, and significant cost-savings are typical results realised by companies using the MEGA Suite.
MEGA places a strong focus on adding value to customers' businesses by consistently providing them with new features and capabilities for process analysis, IT planning, EA management, and architecture modeling. Complementing this advanced software is a team of expert consultants who help customers identify and optimise their business processes and IT plans.
Earlier this year, MEGA was named by Forrester Research as a leader in its analysis, "The Forrester Wave: Business Process Analysis, Enterprise Architecture (EA) Tools, and IT Planning, Q1 2009".

MEGA Introduces Collaboration Tool for Enterprise Architecture
New workflow tool automates change management
Hobart, Tasmania., December 16, 2009 -- MEGA, a recognised leader in enterprise architecture (EA), has introduced MEGA TeamWork, a new software product that allows teams in organisations to work collaboratively to change, review, and validate business processes, assets, architectures, and resources.
MEGA is the only company to offer a collaboration capability fully integrated within an EA solution that provides the complete range of EA and BPA functionality.
MEGA TeamWork is a workflow tool, the newest product in the highly-regarded MEGA Suite. It provides a structured and customisable process for change management through circulation of information, such as requests for change, and notifications for review and validation, without relying solely on overburdened email or other non-integrated, inadequate communications means such as external macros that quickly become lost, broken or outdated, or wikis.
"Designed to improve collaboration, MEGA TeamWork ensures optimum governance of a company's business and enterprise architecture because it integrates the change management process within the MEGA Suite," explained Lucio de Risi, CEO, MEGA. "MEGA Teamwork will replace enterprises' efforts to support workflow-based collaboration with endeavors that are separate from the core EA activity and can never provide complete collaboration."
Because today's workers are distributed among multiple sites and represent different business needs, it is challenging for team coordination. Business analysts, solution architects, project staff and managers who must validate work, need effective collaboration methods. This is also true for executives who need to monitor progress, trigger changes in company processes or assets, and discuss up-to-the-minute information with other decision makers.
"Engaging and coordinating the many stakeholders needed in decisions to launch major change initiatives can be troublesome, particularly in industries or countries where a consensus approach is the norm. IT strategists of every stripe, including enterprise architects, prefer products that help them plan and synchronize the high-impact initiatives," explained Henry Peyret, principal analyst, Forrester, in "The Forrester Wave: Business Process Analysis, EA Tools, and IT Planning, Q1, 2009.
Because of its full integration within the MEGA Suite, MEGA TeamWork allows all stakeholders to be a part of the change management process, either within the modeling environment or via a standard Web browser.
MEGA Teamwork will reduce the time and risks inherent in managing change in the company's enterprise architecture, and improve the traceability of changes. It provides an audit trail of each change and the graphical representation of the process leading to changes. It also controls circulation and review processes within project teams and among external stakeholders.
MEGA Teamwork helps teams:
• circulate repository content change, review, and approval requests through automated workflows
• track and document change processes and decisions
• use notifications to communicate change events to those involved
• view status of all tasks through task lists and assignments for each person on the team
MEGA Teamwork is available immediately.
MEGA in Visionaries Quadrant in EGRC and ORM Software Studies

MEGA in Visionaries Quadrant in EGRC and ORM Software Studies
Stamford, Conn., September 14, 2009 - MEGA, a major governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) solutions provider, has been placed in the visionaries quadrant in two Gartner, Inc. reports: "Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance Platforms" and "Magic Quadrant for Operational Risk Management Software for Financial Services".
The two reports contain an analysis of software vendors that serve these markets. Vendors are positioned in the reports in one of four categories: niche players, challengers, leaders, and visionaries.
"Gartner conducts a comprehensive and thorough review of EGRC and ORM solutions," noted Lucio de Risi, CEO of MEGA International. "We believe MEGA's position in the visionaries quadrant in both reports is a testimony to the value our software delivers to our customers."
Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance Platforms (EGRC)
"The EGRC platform market derives from the need for many entities to improve the oversight of corporate governance - including financial reporting compliance, enterprise risk management and related audits," noted the report on EGRC. "Therefore, an EGRC platform must solve immediate GRCM needs associated with corporate governance and also enable an enterprise to pursue future consolidation and integration of GRC activities."
Gartner placed companies in the visionaries' quadrant if they had "a solid understanding of the market, as demonstrated by domain expertise and responsiveness to customer expectations. They are actively executing against an aggressive product road map that expands support to additional regulatory and nonregulatory compliance and risk management needs."
MEGA provides flexible EGRC solutions for all four key areas covered in the report (audit, compliance, risk, and policy management). It seamlessly integrates GRC with BPA to map business processes within the organization against risks and controls, facilitating process and performance improvements, and offers comprehensive audit planning features. The software is unique in its recognition of the overlap in audit, risk, and control activities; it provides a common platform through a global repository to centralize and coordinate all data relating to these areas in a single searchable environment that can be shared between departments, divisions, work groups, or committees.
Operational Risk Management (ORM)
"The use of ORM software by financial services firms requires capabilities beyond generic audit, control and compliance applications. In addition to qualitative self assessment capabilities, leading institutions are seeking solutions that support quantitative, performance-based models," the August 28, 2009 report on ORM noted.
Gartner reported that 40 vendors claimed to have ORM solutions. To be included in the report, an offering had to be stand-alone software for control of operational risk and meet several criteria:
Gartner placed companies like MEGA in the ORM Magic Quadrant only if their products demonstrated:
- "Enterprise reach (as opposed to just departmental or line-of-business capabilities);
- Complete capital calculation functionality including statistical and scenario analysis, stress testing and simulation;
- Risk and performance data/indicator monitoring, assessment, and integration;
- Risk management, escalation and alerting functionality for early warnings and loss events;
- Broad spectrum reporting (including, for example, loss events) for senior managers, boards of directors and auditors, as well as bank examiners;
- Assessment and integration of qualitative and quantitative metrics and management controls;
- Business process identification, mapping and evaluation;
- Risk policy definition and controls, including organizational framework;
- Audit and certification;
- Data management functionality that incorporates or allows for the integration of a risk data repository, risk metadata library, performance data repository, risk rule engine, ETL, and multitype loss data collection, storage, and retrieval."
MEGA supports advanced measurement for ORM, with a risk framework that includes Basel II and Sarbanes Oxley preloaded libraries. With the company's pioneering foundation in business process analysis, the MEGA software solutions for ORM supports business process mapping to provide a unique level of visibility into enterprise organization and processes, operational risks and controls. In addition, product features include risk and control self assessment, loss data collection, and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) capabilities, as well as a calculation engine, scenario analysis, quantitative analytics, and Bayesian integration.

MEGA Cited as a Strong Performer in Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance Report

MEGA Cited as a Strong Performer in Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance Report
MEGA, the company that provides integrated governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) software solutions has been named a Strong Performer in a recent analysis of the GRC market conducted by Forrester Research, Inc. In the report: The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Governance, Risk, And Compliance Platforms, Q3 2009 (July 2009), MEGA is rated highly on client reference scores, GRC management and analytics, risk and control management, and financial viability.
This report comes at a time where it is widely recognised that for organisations to survive the harsh economic climate and enhance their performance, risk management procedures need to be updated and corporate governance needs to improve.
For the report, Forrester evaluated 14 top enterprise GRC vendors against 80 criteria in the categories of current offering, strategy, and market presence. Each of these top vendors was found to have broad GRC capabilities, a substantial number of GRC customers, and significant thought leadership and mindshare.
The report said, "MEGA offers many unique advantages to customers as one of the few GRC platforms with a proprietary risk engine and a leading product in the business process analysis market."
"The market continues to evolve to a more holistic approach to GRC, as an opportunity for organizations to improve operational efficiency and meet requirements," noted Lucio de Risi, CEO, MEGA. "This trend corresponds to MEGA's 20-year history of helping large enterprises worldwide improve business performance. We are proud to be named by Forrester in its evaluation of top enterprise GRC vendors."
The MEGA GRC Suite offers three discrete solutions - MEGA GRC Audit, MEGA GRC Compliance and Control, and MEGA GRC Risk - to solve pressing issues in risk, and control, compliance, and audit management.
MEGA continually adds new capabilities to the Suite, following its introduction in 2006. The company recently added a powerful mathematical tool to measure risk exposure, expanding the risk quantification and analytic features.
Earlier in 2009, MEGA added new capabilities for audit quality and to manage risks in a bottom-up and/or top-down approach. The latest version of the Suite helps companies meet new reporting requirements, manage multi-compliance issues, and adds new platform tools for increased productivity.
The MEGA GRC Suite is supplemented by nearly 20 years of process expertise from MEGA's international team of consultants who support more than 2,200 customer organisations' performance improvement projects.
The MEGA GRC Suite is available in Australia through Prologic.

MEGA Introduces Powerful Risk Management Capability
Unique mathematical method expands ability to measure risk exposure
Prologic, an Australian software, web and IT consultancy service provider, today announces the integration of a powerful mathematical model into the MEGA GRC Suite, an advanced software solution from its international business partner MEGA. The mathematical tool has been integrated into the governance, risk, and compliance software to measure risk exposure, presenting a unique opportunity for risk managers to formulate comprehensive operational risk models in unpredictable economic times.
The expanded risk quantification and analytics component is based on Bayesian scenario calculation, a proven and advanced means to produce the complex operational risk models that experts agree are the best way to measure risk exposure and aid in decision making.
The Bayesian modeling technique provides a simple, yet robust way of combining existing data and knowledge in the form of probabilities, while keeping uncertainties in the data and knowledge explicit. These principles are used to model complex real-world problems in a unified framework. The methods for the MEGA GRC Suite were developed by Probayes, a French-based company with significant expertise in probabilistic software applications.
The measurement and modeling of operational risk has become more essential within many industries, but especially for banks and insurance companies that must adhere to the Basel II and Solvency II regulations, which require alignment of capital reserves with potential risks. As those regulations are adopted by more countries, banks and insurers around the world will need the means to meticulously measure risk exposure.
"This new capability will provide operational risk managers with more detailed and reliable information about a company's risk exposure," noted Lucio de Risi, CEO, MEGA. "These improved estimations of potential risks will help executives make better business decisions about corporate priorities, to help reduce the company's exposure to possible liabilities."
"Operational risk management has become a standard practice in many industries, but there has been a shortage of sophisticated tools with comprehensive methods to produce operational risk models to supply the important data that executives need to make business decisions," explained Ali Samad-Khan, global leader of the operational risk management practice at Towers Perrin.
Operational risk managers, corporate executives, and board members will be interested in this progressive addition to the MEGA GRC Suite because it adds yet another innovative capability to help enterprises accurately and swiftly identify and manage risks. The MEGA GRC Suite includes three business solutions - GRC Risk, GRC Compliance and Control, and GRC Audit - that help corporations solve pressing issues in risk identification and control, compliance, and audit.
The MEGA GRC Suite was named as the best solution for integrated risk management and control by Yphise in 2009.
The new risk quantification and analytics component will be available in the MEGA GRC Suite in July.

MEGA Plans NATO Architectural Framework Offering
6/5/2009
MEGA Plans NATO Architectural Framework Offering
MEGA, the industry pioneer in business process analysis (BPA) and enterprise architecture (EA) for nearly 20 years, today announced plans to offer a new adaptation of the MEGA Modeling Suite to support the NATO Architecture Framework (NAF).
This follows the recent introduction of the MEGA Suite for DoDAF, another extension of the MEGA Modeling Suite that supports the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF). MEGA also offers other standardized framework, model, and library support for The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), the US Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF), IT City Planning, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and Enhanced Telecom Operations Map (eTOM).
The NAF provides standardized guidance, rules, and product descriptions for developing, presenting, and communicating architectures for communications and IT systems. NATO's complex programs require a structured, standardized approach through architectural frameworks. NATO's challenges, such as the increased need for the NATO Response Force, put very high demands on information and communications technology.
The NAF ensures a common understanding to compare and integrate architectures within NATO. Its primary use is for development of large-scale defense and security systems where multiple contractors contribute specialized components that must be integrated into a single system. The NAF helps optimize processes, improve the use and deployment of resources, and contribute to better decision making to insure successful NATO programs.
Several projects involving European government agencies and private contractors are underway using the NAF. It is expected to become even more important in France, as that country returns to NATO's military command for the first time since 1966.
MEGA plans to make the MEGA Suite for NAF available in the fall, to support the current version of the NAF. It will offer easy-to-generate, high quality deliverables and repository design consistency, two important items that have been lacking in previous NAF products from other companies. The product is currently in beta testing with one of the largest aerospace and defense companies in the world.

MEGA GRC 3.1
MEGA Introduces Advanced GRC Solution
RAYNHAM, Mass., February 2, 2009 -MEGA, the company that provides integrated governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) and business process analysis (BPA) software solutions, has introduced the MEGA GRC Suite Version 3.1. The capabilities of the platform and the Suite modules - GRC Audit, GRC Compliance and Control, and GRC Risk - have been augmented and enhanced to provide an even more complete and flexible solution that addresses critical issues facing large corporations in today's troubling economy.
MEGA was named by Forrester Research as a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Business Process Analysis, Enterprise Architecture (EA) Tools, and IT Planning, Q1 2009. In addition, the MEGA GRC Suite was named as the best solution for integrated risk management and control by Yphise in its January 2009 Integrated Risk Management and Control report that contains a detailed analysis, comparison, and assessment of risk management and control software products.
This new version of the MEGA GRC Suite offers:
- Ways to improve audit quality and enhance business decision capability
- Advanced risk features to manage both global and local risks
- Compliance and control additions to meet new reporting requirements
- A host of new platform tools for increased productivity
The new MEGA GRC Audit module has been designed to solve several pressing issues for internal auditors. The software guarantees the audit trail and quality through increased capacity for reporting and follow-up thanks to a secure Web-based collaborative environment involving all necessary stakeholders. This enables internal auditors to ensure that their earlier recommendations have been implemented. In most companies, audit functions have expanded beyond financial and compliance issues to include assessment and control of business and governance risks; this new module gives auditors the tools to manage this larger role and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. The MEGA software also increases audit productivity by standardizing best practices and optimizing available resources to accommodate the mounting workloads facing auditors.
"Using numerous office tools, such as spreadsheets and email, we faced the difficulty of managing an increasing volume of information exchanges and data. MEGA GRC Audit provides the ability to address this challenge, by facilitating the storage of information and the audit trail. In addition it ensures a common practice thanks to the use of a single tool for audit management," said Jean Marc Ferjoux, GRC project manager at Renault Group.
MEGA GRC Compliance and Control has extended self-assessment features for evaluation management, provides ergonomic improvements such as direct access to the "to do list", and simpler questionnaires ensuring that periodic compliance and control surveys are easily completed. It also includes an improved means to manage and correct deficiencies by grouping the action plans.
The new MEGA GRC Risk module has improved reporting capability, including Basel II reports and the option to manage both global and local risks through a consolidated risk evaluation overview.
The MEGA GRC Suite and the MEGA Modeling Suite for enterprise architecture and business process analysis are supplemented by nearly 20 years of process expertise from MEGA's international team of consultants who support internal auditors, compliance officers, and risk managers.
The GRC Suite became available to customers January 15, 2009.

HOBART, Tasmania, February 24, 2009 - Prologic, the exclusive Australasian distributor of MEGA International's enterprise architecture (EA) and business process analysis (BPA) solutions, and a leading Tasmanian software, web and IT consultancy service provider, today announces the release of the MEGA Suite for DoDAF. The DoDAF Suite is a new solution based on the MEGA Modeling Suite to specifically support the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
The DoDAF, so named because it originated with the US Department of Defense (DoD) and is a requirement for DoD agencies and contractors to use in developing architectures, has become an international standard for the world's largest defence, aerospace, and security organizations. The DoDAF is applicable to all large organizations that require structured, repeatable methods to plan and implement organizational change and deploy new technologies. It is used to visualize, represent, and understand complicated operational and systems architectures, and provide support for decision-making, all based on standard descriptions.
MEGA, just named by Forrester Research as a leader in its report, The Forrester Wave™: Business Process Analysis, Enterprise Architecture (EA) Tools, and IT Planning, Q1 2009, has now extended its industry-leading EA tool to support DoDAF. This repository-based modeling tool helps define and link process and IT architecture components. The Suite offers extended workgroup capabilities, and automatic generation of reports as required by the standard. IT planning capabilities support decision-making and enable systems to be evolved on a lifetime basis.
EADS, the second largest aerospace and defence company in the world, is using the MEGA Suite for DoDAF to support its activities on the SESAR Project, the program for the modernization of European air traffic control.
"MEGA used its extensive experience in enterprise architecture modeling to create the MEGA Suite for DoDAF, which aligns organizational and IT requirements in the military and security sectors," explained Jean-Yves Sauze, system architect, EADS. "With this tool, we have been able to describe an architecture and its technical solution, adapt the DoDAF framework to the project requirements, and easily communicate the architecture to stakeholders. It has been quite helpful in supporting design and validation activities."
Sauze said the EADS project team has found the MEGA tool to be intuitive and easy to use, helping to provide rich information for decision-making. EADS, with 116,000 employees in France, Germany, Spain, the UK, US, and Australia and annual revenues of more than €39 billion, is a leader in defence, aerospace, homeland security, and commercial markets.
The MEGA Suite for DoDAF, which is easily customizable, allows impact analysis and link tracking. Standard notation allows easy navigation between levels of descriptions. It comes with a powerful reporting tool, with more than 60 analysis reports.
An important and differentiating feature, traceability with requirements, is achieved by interfacing the MEGA Suite for DoDAF to Telelogic®Doors®, the standard requirement management system in the defence market.
With easy access to all DoDAF views and elements, validation checks to ensure consistency across models, and a dictionary of over 12,000 terms documenting the standard, the MEGA software fully supports DoDAF implementation.
The MEGA Suite for DoDAF will be available from Prologic in March this year. It supports the latest DoDAF Version 1.5
